Becoming A Member

Even though the law protects your right to receive information about organizing your workplace, IUOE Local 800 will keep your request for that information confidential. To explore the possibility of union representation in your workplace, it is important and necessary to discuss it with your co-workers.
Remember, a majority of employees must agree to join the union if your effort is to be successful. Once a majority is interested, authorization cards are distributed for signatures. This gives us the authority to represent you and your co-workers.

Employers will say almost anything to keep you from joining a union. And it’s easy to see why — if you belong to a union, you have a voice in the decisions that affect you, your job and your family. For an employer keeping an eye on the bottom line, what’s in the company’s best interest may not always be what’s in your best interest.
